Celebrating 90 Years of Powering our Community

The month of may is a month that has something in it for almost everyone.  Maybe you’re a Star Wars fan and look forward to celebrating May 4th. Maybe you enjoy open wheel racing and look forward to watching the greatest spectacle in racing. Maybe you just like the warmer weather and watching baseball.  If you are a frequent reader of my monthly articles, you probably are already wondering where I’m headed with this.  So, let’s go in the direction of May the 4th be with you.

A long time ago in a county not so far away…

It is a time of celebration.

For 90 years, Fulton County REMC has served its members. Powering homes. Supporting communities. Standing ready when it matters most.

In the early days, much of the rural area sat in darkness. Electricity was not guaranteed. For many, it was not available at all.

A small group of members came together with a clear purpose. Bring power to their homes. Their farms. Their neighbors.

The work was not easy. Crews faced long days and uncertain conditions. Setting poles. Stringing lines. Building something from the ground up.

What started as a simple mission began to grow. Reaching farther. Connecting more people. Changing daily life across the region.

As decades passed, the world evolved. Farms expanded. Technology advanced. Communities grew stronger and more connected.

Storms came. Challenges followed. Yet each time, crews answered the call. Restoring power. Rebuilding. Moving forward.

Across fields, and rural roads, the lines carried more than electricity. They carried opportunity.

New generations stepped forward. Continuing the work. Upholding the same values that started it all.

Now, ninety years later, the mission remains.

Fulton County REMC stands ready.

To serve its members.
To strengthen its communities.
To power what comes next.

The future is bright.

And of course, in true Star Wars style:

Yoda would say: Strong, this community’s power remains. (I bet most of you read that in the Yoda voice.)

Chewbacca would say: Rrrrrraaaawwwrrrgh urrrrhhhhh!
